Summer Thunder

Storms on muggy summer days are powerful. The atmosphere is heavy and green-yellow in color. Somber-looking clouds hang low. The stillness is filled with tension. Birds seem to rest, pushed to sleep by the moisture-laden air. Today the sweat didn't come, but the rain did. And fast. Throughout the day rain fell, on and off again. It happened without notice since the whole day hung like a warning.

The month of crew leading is over. Back in the northeast, I prepare for future endeavors. Had my experience out west been filled with any more laughter and joy and beauty, it would have burst in a crazed and gentle explosion of color. The people I worked and lived with were wonderful. Their respect, their curiosity, their intellect and maturity amazed me at every moment and I know they will all grow to be very good people.

As I prepare myself to live in society, I am faced again with the fact that I have many responsibilities.

I look forward to school, to learning formally, and now I seek to incorporate a new facet to my education. The world is my classroom and I think I am ready.
