It's snowing gently and I'm home. Sitting on this white couch I knit with bamboo needles and green yarn. I like the feel of these needles better than the aluminum ones. The metal was always cold. And the yarn is made from alpaca wool. It's a medium weight and has many colors within the green. I'm making a shawl with a snowflake pattern. I get distracted, though, and forget which step I'm on. By the time I'll be able to recognize the pattern I'll see that I've made many mistakes.
I often think about my thesis and about salsa, two of my priorities. Salsa is exciting; taking and teaching lessons, I'm learning technique. I wonder how I'll dance ten weeks from now.
I feel like the 'outdoors' are waiting for me and I'm waiting for the rotation of the Earth in its orbit.
I'll stay in the City during most of the summer for thesis research. I love how passing ideas come to fruition months and years after they've been born. "I want to build community." How do you bring the natural environment into an urban one? How can that process benefit a neighborhood? How do you prevent gentrification of a community when revitalizing the urban landscape? How can sustainable re-development economically and environmentally benefit a community?
