Empowerment is a state of mind

Though work here has been trying, I have hope that my remaining months will still be worthwhile.

One member of the crew has left, another is taking a hitch off due to a knee injury, leaving us only four interns and our crew leader. There are others in the Corps that are leaving, too. A sign, to me, that this program needs a lot of improvement, which I hope those in charge realize.

But having talked to our hitch leader about our concerns, I do think I will find new aspects of this job that I enjoy. And simply telling myself to open my eyes to the beauty of the world, no matter where I am, desert or otherwise, reminds me of why I accepted this position and why I remain here. The human being is able to find joy and happiness in otherwise devastating situations and places and this job is still pretty great.

Find beauty is yourself and beauty will surround you.
