Terroir: n. [ter wAHr] Originally a French word. Stems from terre,
"land." Denotes the unique characteristics that the local environment
bestows upon a product. Agricultural sites in the same region share
similar soil, weather conditions, and farming techniques, which all
contribute to the qualities of the crop and food produced. The word can
be loosely defined as "a sense of place."
Our Terroir is the idea that when we take pride in our land, when we place value in its distinctive products and in the unique culture it hosts, we effectively protect our environment and empower our communities.
